Santa Monica with Kelly (Part 2: The Voice)

I review shows for the website Film Thrasher.  Have I mentioned that? Pretty sure I have. If I haven't, let me mention it again. I review shows for the website Film Thrasher. One of the shows I review is The Voice. I was super excited to see Naia Kete on the show, as she is someone I remember from my spring break trip here. Naia is a frequent fixture at the Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade, singing with her family. She has such a great vibe, and rocks some incredible dread locks, too!

Needless to say, when I saw her, I kind of geeked out a bit.

If you've never heard Naia sing, here she is singing a cover of the Gotye song, "Somebody I Used to Know":



While she was singing, she was pointing to someone in the audience. I was on the side, so I couldn't see who it was, so imagine my surprise when Naia called up Lindsey Pavao and Erin Willett, also contestants on The Voice! They joined Naia in singing the song. Lindsey actually sang it on the show, so it was fun to hear her do an acoustic version in person. Erin was one of my favorites on the show (she sings like I sing). Her father passed away during the show taping, so I felt like I had a kindred connection to what she was going through.
 

After they sang, I went up and said hi to them, and asked for a photo. Kelly did a great job!  I have an infamous history with Celebrity Photo Fails (like this one. and more notably, this one.), but I am happy to say that this day was NOT one of them!! Thanks so much, Kelly!! Lindsey was incredibly sweet. She was very encouraging when I said I wanted to audition. She said, "You totally should! It completely changed my life."
