The Hume family has a history of decorating in overabundance for Christmas. Mom had 5 trees in the house, all immaculately decorated.
I am following in that tradition. We have 2 trees in our house this year. I usually put all of the decorations up the day after Thanksgiving, but this year it took me a little longer. One reason is that I had to work at 2am on the day after Thanksgiving, so I went home and slept for a while. The other reason is that it was a little sad. I thought about mom a lot while I was decorating. So, I took it slow. I put the tree up one day, but the lights up the next, put up some of the ornaments on another day....all in all, it took me about a week to do all of the decorating.
I bought a little 3.5' tree from Walmart, which is now the dogs' tree. I get a new ornament for them every year, so this tree is full of their ornaments. The only ornaments not pictured here on the tree are the 2 from this year. They arrived this week and are now on the tree, so it looks a little different. I might need to make a Christmas dog-themed skirt for this tree in the future!
These are the ornaments for the dogs this year. My cousin Shelly made them from scratch!
We don't have a mantel anymore, so I hung the stockings from the movie shelf with care.
A wreath that I made, inspired from Pinterest. I love that site!
I get a new ornament for Nick and I every year, as well. I have usually put them in the garland on the mantel, but this year I bought some lighted garland and hung the ornaments from the garland on our Chinese screens.
And this is our big tree! I am so glad that we went and spent money on good ornaments our first year of marriage. I am always happy to put them on the tree!
