Pin for the Win!

It's Wednesday, which means it's "Pin for the Win" day at Mommin' It Up!

Here is our bedroom.

Boring, right? White, white, white as far as the eye can see. I HATE IT. But we're in a rental, so I figure I can't do much about it. Nick is hesitant about putting things up on the walls, too, because we'll have to patch the holes when we move. But I CAN'T STAND having white walls. I feel like I'm in an institution of some kind.

I saw this pin on Pinterest, and figured I could do something fun with it.

I wrote a song for Nick for our wedding day. It was epic, and one of the best moments of my life (and, incidentally, one of the only surprises I've ever been able to pull over on Nick). I love that song, and even though the song would be totally different now, I still love that I wrote the lyrics and sang it to him. I knew that those would be the words to use.

I found this print at Ikea.

I typed out the lyrics to the song beforehand, and arrange the words the way I wanted them to appear on the print. Thank goodness I did that, because when you're writing on something this big, inevitably you're going to mess up!

I used this highly scientific easily accessible method for making sure I kept things on the right row. It also helped me space out the lines to have it be close to centered.

I started by using pencil.

I debated on what kind of color to use on top, and what method. I bought fabric markers and acrylic paint and paintbrush, but in the end, I just used Sharpie marker. I thought I'd start using the Sharpie and then go over the Sharpie with something else once I got it the way I liked it, but after I was all done with the Sharpie I ended up liking it anyway, and returned the other stuff.

I love the way it turned out. It's not completely perfect, which I love, because it's very much like me.

Thanks for another project, Pinterest!
