We had our first incident at the house!
I went out to do some errands, and came back to the house an hour and a half later. There was a knock on my door, and a guy said, "You know you have a leak outside?"
And he wasn't exaggerating!! There was a gushing coming out by one of the sprinkler heads. I don't know how long it had been going on, but our entire side yard was swamped, and it was running down over the sidewalk and into the street--3 houses down!
A friendly neighbor stopped the car and turned off the water outside (thankfully, because I didn't know how to do it!). Then I got in touch with our landlord, who sent the plumber over.
Turns out, one of the sprinkler PVC pipes had come loose. So he spliced in a new elbow, and hopefully it will hold tomorrow morning when Nick turns the water back on.
One good thing: I was supposed to go to a movie screening tonight, but I honestly forgot about it while doing my errands. I came home, saw the flooding, and called Nick frantically, and he said, "I wasn't coming home, because aren't you going to see your movie?" If I had gone to the movie, the pipe would have continued to gush for a couple of hours! I believe God had me forget all about the movie so that we wouldn't have had an even bigger mess.
Same kinda thing happened to me today! I came home a little early from work to find our puppy had not been locked up for THE WHOLE day! Who knows what a bigger mess I would have come home to 3 hours later! Hope the new pipe holds!
